Hi! I am Lucas Ahrens, a rising senior at Calhoun High School in Merrick, NY. Some of my hobbies include running, gardening, and programming. I am an environmentally passionate STEM student especially interested in system architecture and full stack development. At WeGarden I designed the adafruit.io backend, API integration, and AWS Lambda functions. I helped all these pieces come together in our fully functional web app.

Hi! I’m Evan, a rising senior at Edina High School (MN) fascinated by the interactions of mathematics, computer science, and business. As an avid nature enthusiast, I’ve always loved outside activities—whether it be camping, running, or whitewater rafting, the outdoors has always been a second home to me. At WeGarden, I was the business lead, devising our product’s Go-To-Market Plan and marketing strategy. I also assisted with the web design and concept demonstration. In my free time, I love reading poetry, discussing psychology, and analyzing domestic policy.

Hi! I’m Ainsley Rexford, a rising senior at Springside Chestnut Hill Academy in Philadelphia, PA. I’ve been a part of the environmental club at my school for 10 years and creating sustainable practices for growing produce is very important to me. I love spending time outdoors but when it comes to gardening, I forget to water my plants and lack time and energy to devote to my garden. At WeGarden, I designed and built the prototype, using my Arduino experience from building a soccer ball that tracks its acceleration to help players improve and an air hockey robot. I also created our final presentation video.

Hi, I’m Alexandra (“Allie”) Salzman, a rising senior from Paul D. Schreiber High School in Port Washington, New York. I have gardened with my family since the age of six, and am an active member of our town’s Plant A Row for the Hungry charity, to provide fresh produce to those in need. I am a committed STEM and social sciences student especially interested in data science. At WeGarden, I developed a Python program that recommends users what to plant based on environmental factors. Additionally, I helped design the WeGarden web app using HTML, CSS, and Javascript. I enjoy playing soccer, swimming, and walking my dog.

Suhani Singhal

Hi! I'm Suhani Singhal, a rising senior from Amador Valley High School in Pleasanton, CA. I am interested in Computer Science and enjoy problem and solving and coding. As a Gold Award Girl Scout, I am invested in preserving the environment and enjoy backpacking and gardening in my backyard. In order to minimize food waste and decrease the amount of people going hungry, I created the app Pomona which connects restaurants with users to sell leftover meals at reduced prices. At WeGarden, I was the customer experience lead, working on the User Interface prototype, WeGarden website, consumer-oriented videos, and Go-to-market Business Plan.
